Michael A. Pistenmaa Obituary
Michael A. Pistenmaa, 76, of Gloucester, MA., peacefully passed away at home on October 16, 2023, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Michael grew up in Lanesville, a town he loved and never left. In 1966, he graduated from Gloucester High School.
Michael would work doing construction for Feldman Construction before joining the Gloucester Fire Dept. from February 1973 up until he retired in 2005. Mike was a man who was loyal to his duties during the 32 years he served at the fire department, being assigned to ladder 2 and mechanic, following in his father's footsteps. Micheal was an outdoorsman and enjoyed lobster fishing with his sons, grandsons, nephews and cousins. Even though he hated the cold, he would look forward to winters playing pond hockey on the quarries or weekly saunas down Donnie's. In later years Mike would spend winters in his home in Florida where he could ride his beloved Harley with his buddy Chuck. What Michael enjoyed most, was spending time with his grandchildren. Michael will be dearly missed and always remembered.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Deborah Pistenmaa, his son Nathan Pistenmaa and his partner Danielle, his grandchildren Marisa and Chase Pistenmaa, and his great grandson Jordin Pistenmaa. Michael was predeceased by his parents Lauri and Pauline, his brother Larry Pistenmaa, his son Michael Pistenmaa, and his niece Felicia Pategal.
Michael requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Michael's loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan Street, Gloucester, on Saturday, November 11, from 1pm-5pm.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in his name to Addison Gilbert Hospital's Oncology Department, 292 Washington Street, Gloucester. Arrangements by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
