Michael A. Mason Obituary

Michael A. Mason, age 62 passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Kristin M. (Marchant) Mason.

Born in Gloucester, Mike was the son of the late Robert and Barbara (McGuire) Mason. He graduated Gloucester High School and continued to further his education at North Shore Community College. He found work on a sailboat called The Mimi with his friend Steve and together they sailed along the waters from Massachusetts to Florida and everywhere in between teaching school groups about the history of the vessel and life on the sea. Mike then went on to work at Gloucester Engineering as an electrical mechanic for over 15 years.

When Mike was not working, you could always find him surrounded by those he loved. He was a member of both the Amvets and The Elks and made many friends through both organizations. Mike was a motorcycle enthusiast and rode his Harley for many years. He also enjoyed tuna fishing, karaoke, and spending time with friends and family. He was known by all who knew and loved him as a giant teddy bear with a big heart.

Mike is survived by his wife Kristin and their two daughters Rachel and Nicky; sisters Bonnie Sweet, Christine Sherman, and Elizabeth Hinckley; brothers James Mason and Robert Mason Jr.; sisters in-law Mary, Susan, Patricia, and Andrea; brother in-law Tim; his two dearest friends Steve Davis and Henry Silveira; his godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his sister in-law Olive Cottone and brothers in-law Joseph and Daniel Marchant.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
