Maunuel C. Neves Obituary
Manuel "Manny" C. Neves, 88, passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Manuel was born on November 26, 1935, in Madalena, Pico, Acores. He was the son of Luis and Rosa Duarte Neves and son in-law of Beatriz and Joao Soares.
On November 24, 1955, Manuel married his wife, Lina Soares, of whom they shared almost 69 years of marriage.
In October 1966, Manuel immigrated to the United States with his family where he performed jobs anywhere from construction to machinist, where he retired from Dynisco approximately in 2000.
He had 2 beautiful daughters Elja and Elga.
He had several hobbies that consisted of spending time with his family, fishing, playing the harmonica, cooking in his backyard, making wine with friends, listening to music and being a classic jokester.
Manny loved sitting outside on his front stoop and had a contagious laugh that will be fondly remembered.
Manuel was a member of the D.E.S. Portuguese Club in Gloucester for many years and loved the relationships that he made and celebrating the traditional Crowning each year with his family and friends.
Manuel is survived by his wife Lina, daughter Elga Lottatore and her husband Joseph, his son in-law Delio Bagaco. Brother Luis C. Neves and wife Fatima of Pico. Sister in-law Gloria Melo of Gloucester.
Grandchildren include Delia Morrissey and her husband Zachary; Amra Briguglio and her husband Matteo; Klynn Bagaco and his wife Kelcey of Lowell; Victoria and Olivia Lottatore.
Great grandchildren; Isabella and Christopher Forbes, Luc Morrissey, Lillianna Sclafani, Giuseppe Briguglio and Kaitlyn Gaus. Also, nieces, nephews, cousins and many god children.
Predeceased by his loving daughter Elja Bagaco, brother Joao Duarte and wife Maria, brother in-laws Manuel Melo, Manuel Soares and wife Maria.
Visiting hours will be held at Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, June 20, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester on Friday, June 21, at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
