Marybeth Barnjum Obituary

Marybeth Barnjum, 78, of Gloucester, made her final transition surrounded by love and light on August 14, 2024.

For decades, Marybeth was well known in the Gloucester community as the "knitting lady" who would sit out front and wave to the cars on Washington street as they went by. Dunkin Donuts knew her coffee order before she walked in the door. Her many trips to bingo at St. Ann's proved just how lucky she was in friendships and winning. Her favorite memories were of visiting in Maine with her second family thanks to Karen Longo.

Marybeth was a talented craftsman, making a multitude of items such as blankets, scarves, baby booties, hats, gloves, keychains, and so much more. Her favorite past time was selling her wares to anyone who would be lucky enough to buy one. She also enjoyed listening to the oldies and always knew when it was pumpkin spice season.

Marybeth worked for multiple years at Heritage Industries doing many odd jobs before retiring in 2019. To know Marybeth was to truly know how to be loved as her hugs were strong and came with many kisses.

Marybeth is survived by her loving caregivers at the Northeast Arc, including the team at CACR who gave her the best years of her life. She leaves behind many friends such as "Little Sarah", Pat Talty, Paula Mione, Piera Gerena, Stephanie Steele, and Karen Longo.

Marybeth's legacy will live on in the memories etched in our minds and the stories we will forever share.
