Mary Armsden Obituary
Mary "Bonnie" Armsden of Gloucester, age 76, passed on to the next place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, after a long illness.
She was born in Somerville, MA in 1948 to Mary A. McDermott Chandler and Bartlett William Chandler and was a resident of Stoneham, MA for 30 years.
Bonnie graduated from Salem State College in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in education and eventually found her way into nursing where she had a long career as an RN in various hospitals around the area including working as a home visiting nurse where she really shined due to her compassionate and caring nature. Bonnie was inspired to be a nurse after witnessing the care provided to her mother, Mary as she battled cancer. Her caring and selfless nature made her a perfect fit for her profession and eventually she retired to spend more time with her family. There was nothing she loved more than spending time and going on adventures with her grandchildren and recently had the pleasure of welcoming her first granddaughter, Sloane.
Bonnie grew up being close to the ocean and it is where she felt most at home. She felt very fortunate to be able to spend the last 5 years on the Blynman Canal right next to Gloucester Harbor where she relished the feeling of the sun on her face and the smell of the sweet salty air.
Bonnie was the loving wife of William L. Armsden (deceased); devoted mother of William "Chuck" Armsden and wife Sally of Beverly, MA and David Armsden and wife Mary of Plattsburgh, NY; dedicated and affectionate Nana of Connor, Asher, Lucas and Sloane. She is also survived by beloved siblings, Thomas, David, Margaret and Leslie.
In addition to her husband, Bonnie was also predeceased by her beloved siblings Bartlett Jr., Francis and Elizabeth.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. Burial will be held privately.
