Marshall T. Moulton Obituary

Marshall Turner Moulton, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on July 22 in Wentworth, New Hampshire.

He was born at home in Pigeon Cove, the north village of Rockport, Massachusetts on January 3, 1928 to Esther Mae Allen and Marshall "Eben" Turner Moulton. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Doris Mills Moulton (d. 1996) and second wife of 11 years Marjorie McPhee Moulton (d. 2014).

During the 1950's, he worked as a stone cutter at Johnson's Quarry, a drop forge operator at the Cape Ann Tool Company, and an offshore fishing crew member out of Gloucester, Massachusetts. In the 1960s, Marshall delivered Anadama Bread throughout the greater Boston area at night.

Marshall and his brother Leonard "Lenny" A. Moulton (d. 2014), owned and operated Eben's Oil Service, founded by their father in Rockport. Later he and his family moved to California and then moved to Wentworth, NH 20 years later where he enjoyed living with his extended family.

Marshall had a great love of all things sea-related. He enjoyed fishing, lobstering, digging clams, and sailing. He passed that love on to his children. He made wonderful baked bread. While living in NH, he took up making maple syrup, boiling the sap outside on a stove he made out of a 50-gallon drum. He loved spending time with family and family loved spending time with him. Marshall was always there to help anyone in need. He could build or fix just about anything and was a great teacher to others of what he knew. He had a great sense of humor and had an "Attitude of Gratitude". Marshall was a man of few words, but of great influence. He will be missed by many.

Marshall is survived by his sister Betty Moulton Legacy of Rockport, Massachusetts. His four children: Leslie Moulton Backstrom and husband Bernie, Wentworth, New Hampshire, Luann Moulton Taliaferro, Plymouth, New Hampshire, Geoffrey Moulton and wife Lisa of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Jed Moulton and wife Sarah of Omaha, Nebraska. He is grandfather to 10 and great grandfather to three.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marshall's memory to Pemi-Baker Community Health, Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Boulder Point Drive, Suite 3, Plymouth, New Hampshire, 03264. Arrangements by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street.
