Mark S. White Obituary

Mark S. White, 67, beloved husband of Cleone White, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Gloucester to the late Herbert and Mary (Brown) White.

Mark was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester Schools. He was known as a "hard worker" and was admired for his strong work ethic. He spent the majority of his working career employed by Gorton's, mostly in the maintenance department, for 43 years up until his retirement.

Mark was an avid New England sports fan. He enjoyed his daily four mile walk out to Eastern Point Lighthouse, golfing (both playing and watching), trips to Disney, and nothing made him prouder than attending the grandkids' various school and sporting events. He cherished time with his family and he especially loved being Grampy/ "P" to the grandkids and the special bond they shared.

He was father to Scott Tarr, Melissa Cunningham (and Special Son in law Marc), Chad White (Juliana), and Aimee White. Grandchildren, Alicia Tarr, Nolan Cunningham, Brett Cunningham, and Ashley Wiggins.

Mark is also survived by his brothers Herbert White Jr., John and Aurelia White, and sister-in-law Patricia White. Along with his wife's family, sisters-in-law Diane Holyroyd, Jean McKenna, Marianne Shrewsbury, Shirley Gauthier, and Brothers-in -law Peter and Larry Darsey (Jenny) Sam Crocker, and aunts Barbara Keenan and Margie Major. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, especially Bobby and Kathy Hull.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sons Mark White Jr. and Eric Tarr, his brother, Robert White, Sisters in law Sandra White, Paula Crocker and Judy George.

The family would like to take this time to thank everyone for their love and support during Mark's lengthy illness.
