Margaret E. Kidder Obituary
Margaret (Marge) E. Kidder passed away peacefully at Addison Gilbert Hospital on July 23, 2024. Born in Milton, Massachusetts on April 21, 1925, Margaret was 99 years and three months young! She was the wife of the late Walter H. Kidder, Jr.
Margaret held various jobs throughout her long life. During World War II, she aided in the war effort as a "Rosie the Riveter" in Boston manufacturing company. After the armistice, and after marrying the love of her life, Major Walter Kidder, the newlyweds moved to Gloucester, MA.
And there they remained, on Rocky Neck, to raise their family. Margaret worked in retail sales most of her career, with her longest tenure as one of the "Golden Girls" at Goldmans of Gloucester on Main Street. Marge was a true fashionista, and a proud Democrat with deep Irish roots.
Margaret is survived by her three children: Deborah and her partner Jerry West of San Francisco, Kate Meader and her husband Kim of Gloucester, and Brian Kidder, and his wife Betsy of Gloucester. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Jessica Smyser of Boston, Brett Meader and his wife Lauren of Easton, Davia. Meader of Gloucester, Colby Kidder and his wife Erica of Leominster, Nate Kidder. and his fiancé Kara Jameson of Gloucester, and Evan Kidder of Gloucester.
Also, she lived to welcome four great grandchildren: Ava, Lena, Olivia, and Anderson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her grandson, Anders Meader; her parents, Henry and Catherine Mahoney; and her siblings, James Mahoney, Mary Spears (Donald), Rita.
Defillipo (Angelo), Louise Sector (Louis), and reverend Father John Mahoney. No funeral services are planned. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
