Kathleen A. Marks Obituary

Kathleen Ann (Herlihy) Marks, "K/Kathy", 63, of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Kathy leaves a lasting, positive impact on everyone she met. K was a loving wife to Dana for 32 years. Together, they built a beautiful family including their daughter Ashleigh and her partner James of Watertown, and their daughter Alexandra and grandpup Leo the Dog of Gloucester.

Kathy grew up in Belmont. As the only daughter in a household amongst 5 brothers, she learned how to stand her ground and flourished into her animated self. She was known for her witty charm, incredible sense of humor, and the love of pranking her brothers.

K devoted her life to helping others. She held a career in early education teaching children at various schools throughout Massachusetts. She was a loving mom, soccer coach, volunteer, fundraiser, certified Reiki practitioner, and energy healer.

Over the last several years, Kathy enjoyed spending time in Gloucester taking walks around Good Harbor Beach, Stage Fort Park, and Halibut Point. She was passionate about wildlife and truly felt a deep connection to nature. You could typically find her sitting on her back deck observing the birds or in the backyard meditating. She enjoyed golfing with her husband, family, and friends at Bass Rocks Golf Club, and playing competitive games of bocce with friends and family.

K was very spiritual. She could sense the energy of people around her and provide crystal recommendations to help them work through or manifest what they were seeking. She is the published author of (K) Isms: A Spiritual Journey. She is known amongst family and friends for her informative and entertaining videos which provided comic relief while discussing lunar phases and the astrological forecasts.

Kathy loved to travel. Most recent trips included: Florida (Boca Raton and Delray Beach), Italy (Florence, Lucca, and Pisa) and her most beloved Ireland (The Dingle Peninsula and Dublin). She was a chocolate connoisseur, going on chocolate tours and sampling chocolates from all over the world. She loved learning about the different ways chocolate is made.

Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late John F. Herlihy and Mary Ann Herlihy of Belmont. She is survived by her husband, Dana; daughters, Ashleigh and her partner James, and her daughter Alexandra; grandpup, Leo the Dog; brothers, John and his wife Beverly, Mike and his wife Michelle, Peter and his wife Sue, William and his wife Jennifer. Kathy was predeceased by her brother, Charles and by her nephew, Johnny. She is also lovingly survived by 18 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews.

K's legacy will live on in her family and friends who she always inspired with her positivity, spirituality, and love of those around her. "Only highest and best."Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 4-8 pm in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA.
