Julia Scandalito Obituary
Julia (Linquata) Scandalito passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022. Born in Gloucester, Julia was the daughter of the late Leonard and Anne (Favalora) Linquata. She graduated from Gloucester High School, class of"47.". She married Salvatore Scandalito in 1948. She was employed as a bookkeeper for GMF Corp, a fish processing company owned by her husband and her brother-in-law, Libby Curcuru.
Julia enjoyed playing bridge with her sisters and friends and she also played cribbage locally for years. She often visited the sick bringing them her famous cookies, brownies and pastries. In her younger years, Julia enjoyed her summers on Wingaersheek Beach with her family and picking blueberries in Dogtown to use in her pies and goodies. In later years, she spent many happy days at her backyard pool where relatives and friends often gathered. She spent her winters in Florida and enjoyed traveling with her sister.
Julia was predeceased by her brother Michael Linquata (Lillian), Rosalie Parco (Tony). Anita Curcuru (Libby), and Marianne McCallum (Ed).
Julia is survived by her two daughters, Janet Messier (Marc), and Andrea Kelly (Jim), five grandchildren: Christopher Curcuru (Martha), Erin O'Maley (Colin Philips), Luc Messier (Kirsten), Daniel Messier (Ashley), and Joel Messier. She leaves six great-grandchildren who brought her much joy, Salvatore Cururu, Dominiqe and Sara Messier, Seamus and Roan O'Maley-Philips, and Leo Messier. She also leaves many close nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Pauline (Bob) Dion. Julia also leaves behind her special friend and caregiver, Maggie Smith, who lovingly cared for her at home for more than five years, as well as Maggie's extended family who also grew close to Julia.
A graveside service will be held in the Spring; date to be determined. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, MA.
