Joseph T. Pratt Obituary

Joseph T. Pratt, 78, a resident of Gloucester, Massachusetts passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Carol (Mitchell) Pratt for 55 amazing and adventurous years.

Joe was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts on October 15, 1945, son of the late Ralph and Josephine (Sallah) Pratt. He graduated from Gloucester High School 1963. After graduation, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Airforce 1964-1968 and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He spoke fondly of the people culture and food in Vietnam which shows Joe's distinguished character. Following his honorable discharge, Joe attended and received a degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Joe began his career in Accounting in California and once he returned to Gloucester, he served his beloved community as the City Auditor with fierce dedication and integrity. He was a member of the Elks, Veterans Association, School Committee, and loved to volunteer for his church.

Joe loved more than anything spending time with his family and lifelong friends. He cherished his lifelong friendships with Michael Curcuru, Everett Brown and Richard Malaquias. Whether it was playing golf, pool or cribbage, rowing, spending time on the ocean, or spending time playing with his grandchildren he was happy. He especially loved family gatherings with more than enough of food for an army and sharing the same with his family. A couple of his favorite traditions was cooking breakfast on Christmas morning and the annual Pratty's Family Pool Tournament.

Joe was known for his unconditional love for his family. There was never a time he would not be there for his family. Most of all Joe was very proud of his wife, children and grandchildren's adventures, accomplishments and love of life. Family was everything to him. He took pride in each and every one of his loved ones.

Joe is survived by wife, Carol A. Pratt, children, Bethany M Pratt, Joseph T. Pratt II (TJ), Danielle Pratt with partner David Moccia and Diana (Pratt) O'Malley with her husband David O'Malley, grandchildren, Brooks O'Malley, Lyla O'Malley, Grayson O'Malley and Marcus Crawford, brother, Michael Pratt, and James Pratt and his wife Deborah, along with his sisters, whom he cherished, Karen Budrow, Stephanie Pratt-Densmore, and Michelle Pratt, MaryJo Montagnino, along with many nieces and nephews.
