Joseph A Brancaleone Obituary
Joseph Antonino Brancaleone, 73, of Gloucester, husband of Kathleen (McCormack) Brancaleone passed away on November 6, 2022, following a long illness.
Joseph was born in Gloucester on January 14, 1949, son of Antonina Brancaleone and the late Antonio Brancaleone.
Joseph graduated from Saint Mel's day school and Saint Ann's High School in 1967. Following graduation, Joseph enrolled in the U.S. Navy where he spent four years as quartermaster on board the nuclear submarines USS George Bancroft and the USS Thomas Jefferson.
In 1972 after leaving the Navy, his time in the family fishing business was cut short due to an accident at sea, while on board the Joseph and Lucia II.
He worked for 27 years for Analogic corporation in Peabody. He had previously owned and operated the Depot coffee shop in Rockport and Captain Harry's Seafood and Restaurant in Ipswich.
Joseph was a member of the American Legion and was on the board of directors for the Gloucester Marine railways.
Joseph loved to travel with his wife "Katie" to whom he would have shared 50 years of marriage on November 26 of this year. He loved cruising the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, South Pacific, Alaska, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Joseph loved working in his yard and especially loved entertaining his children and eight grandchildren in his home and backyard.
Joseph is survived by his mother Antonina and his wife Kathleen, and his children Tony and his wife Melanie of Rowley, MA, Richard and his wife Irca of East Hartford Connecticut, and Joseph Jr and his wife Carolyn of Gloucester. He also leaves his adoring grandchildren Emma, Cooper, and Tyler of Rowley, Sebastian and Neo of East Hartford Connecticut and Joseph III, Jillian, and Christopher of Gloucester. He also leaves his brother Thomas and his wife Janey of Gloucester, his sister-in-law Paddy of the Villages FL, brother-in-law's Richard McCormack and his wife Lily of Gloucester, Michael McCormack and his wife Bonita of Port Richie FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Antonio Brancaleone, brother Allerio Brancaleone, infant brother Gaetano, and brother-in-law John McCormack.
Per his request there will be no services. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA. 01701 or Saint Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105-9959.
