Jennie M. Curcuru Obituary

Jennie M. (Aiello) Curcuru, 98, a lifelong resident of Gloucester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Oceanside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Rockport. She was the wife of the late James J. Curcuru who died in 2000, sharing 54 years of marriage.

She was born in Gloucester on October 20, 1926, daughter of the late Vito and Maria (Militello) Aiello. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Jennie was a graduate of St. Ann's School. Throughout her life she worked for many landmark businesses including Harbor Cove, Birdseye Seafood and General Seafood in Magnolia, then retiring from Mighty Mac as a stitcher and later worked at Addison Gilbert Hospital part-time.

She was a member of the Madonna Del Rosario Society and Seafood Retirees.

She loved to cook Sunday dinners for her family and her grandchildren. She said it keeps the family together and they all looked forward to it.

She enjoyed going to the casinos and playing bingo at the senior center.

She is survived by her 4 children, Angela Finnerty, Joseph Curcuru and wife Christine, Maria and husband Dale Lovett, Janet Crunden; 9 grandchildren, Kathleen and husband John Mele, Sean Finnerty and wife Michele, Kerry and husband Vinnie Mastroianni, James Curcuru and wife Kimberly, Michael Curcuru, Jennifer and husband Jeffrey Buttaro, Michelle Lovett, Santo Militello and wife Lia, and James Militello, 21 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Grace Pallazola; in-laws, Grace Favaloro, Fena Souza, Rosalie Genovese, Joseph "Grace" Curcuru, Benjamin "Debbie" Curcuru, Anthony "Jean" Curcuru, Joyce Curcuru and Beverly Curcuru. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with her niece Josephine Anderson.

She was predeceased by her husband, James; grandchildren, Lea Scuderi and Joseph Curcuru; sons-in-law, Kevin Finnerty, Anthony Militello and John Crunden; siblings, Antoinette "Frank" Militello, John "Lena" Aiello, Rose "Sam" Demetri, Sam "Rose" Aiello, Anthony "Diana" Aiello, Mary Parisi, Joseph Aiello, Pauline "Joseph" Piscitello; brothers-in-law, Thomas Pallazola; in-laws, Salvatore "Antoinette" "Claire" Curcuru, Mena "Vito" Misuraca, John Curcuru, Jennie "George" McKinnon, Philip Curcuru, Vito Favaloro, Claude Souza, Anthony Genovese and Felicia "Nutzie" Aiello.

Special thanks to Ann Marie and Cheryl from Lahey Health Hospice Care and Oceanside Nursing Home Staff for the special care they gave to our mother.

Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:30 am. followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish at 12noon. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
