Ida Marie Wheeler Obituary
Ida M. (Scola) Wheeler, 71, of Gloucester, wife of Harold B. Wheeler passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, March 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gloucester, MA. on February 20, 1953, daughter of the late Capt. Lawrence and Carmella (Parco) Scola.
Ida was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1972. She worked for many years as a clothes buyer for Johnny Appleseed, a job she truly enjoyed.
In her free time, you could find her at the beach or shopping. She loved travelling with her husband, also to Hawaii with her lifelong friend, Jean. She also volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce.
Ida always hosted Sunday and Holiday dinners as well as Football Sunday's. She was definitely the Hostess with the Mostess. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Ida is survived by her husband of 39 years, Harold "Harry" Wheeler; her fur baby, Jasper; daughters, Melissa Kippen, Tracey Aitken and her husband Shaun, and Lisa Fitzgerald; sons, Patrick Wheeler and his wife Andrea, Benjamin Wheeler-Chong and his wife Angelina, Steven Wheeler and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Alexandra, Kayla and Andrew Kippen, Kyle, Kody and Leandra Bloxham and Isabella Noonan, McKenzie, Sunny and Brady Wheeler, Nathan and Matthew Sisson, Noah and Maya Wheeler-Chong, CJ and Karissa Wheeler and Mike Knowlton; great-grandchild, Finnley Kelliher; sister, Maribeth Porter and partner, Dave; brother, Peter Scola and his wife Grace; nieces, Sara Kenyon, Charryse Bigger and Sonja Wheeler; nephews, Mathew Porter, Peter and Lawrence Scola; brothers-in-law, Bruce and Bill Wheeler; very special friends, Lenny and Jeanne Capello and family, Mike and Gail Campbell and family.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence and Salvatore Scola and her mother-in-law, Evelyn Campbell.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00p.m.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 10a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
