Harry D. Thompson Jr. Obituary
Harry D. Thompson Jr., 81 passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, at the Chelsea Soldiers Home with family by his side. He was born on May 21, 1943, in Newburyport to Vivian (Thurlow) and Harry D. Thompson Sr.
He graduated from Gloucester High School in 1961. After high school he went to work fixing cars at the service station in Magnolia. In Harry's free time he raced cars and worked in pit crews on racetracks throughout New England. He later went into the Army where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam war working on trucks.
He spent his career working as a maintenance manager at O'Donnell-Usen and Good Harbor Fillet. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports. So much so that he took up coaching.
He coached Chargers youth football and for the Indians little league baseball teams.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Claudia (Aiello) Thompson; three children, Jason Thompson and his partner Courtney Melanson, Kelly Thompson, Sheli Thompson-Gauthier and her husband Bryan; three grandchildren, Alexia, Dana and Connor Thompson; in-laws, Angela Miller, Annette and Bob Hale, Felicia Raftery, Joe and Kelly Aiello, Mike and Annalee Aiello, many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his son, Dana Thompson; his parents, Harry Sr. & Vivian; a brother, Richard Thompson; in-laws, Anthony "Nutzie" and Felicia (Curcuru) Aiello; brothers-in-law, John Aiello and Steve Miller.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Chelsea Soldiers Home for taking great care of Harry in his final years.
His. Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester, MA. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
