Harold E. Ercolani Obituary
Harold E. Ercolani, 86, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Nancy L. (White) Ercolani. Nancy and Harold had been married for 50 years when Nancy passed away in February 2007 and he considered her the love of his life and his soulmate. He was born in Gloucester on December 15, 1936, the youngest son of the late Grace M. (Goodhue) and Sigifredo Ercolani.
Harold went to Thermo King school where he learned how to fix refrigeration units for trailer trucks. He worked throughout his life as a truck driver and refrigeration mechanic for companies like AJ Elliot trucking, Columbo Yogurt Company, Gloucester Dispatch and most recently before retirement as the fleet mechanic for CATA for the past 30 years. He could repair anything. Truck drivers from across the nation that came to Gloucester would call Harold if they had a truck loaded with local fish and they were having a problem with their refrigeration units. Even in his final days, you could hear Harold on the phone saying, "If I could get out of this bed, I'd come fix it myself but here's how you do it and call me back if you need help.".
He is survived by his children, Michael Ercolani and his wife Vanny, Bruce Ercolani, Nancy Favazza and her husband, Peter, all of Gloucester, David Ercolani and his wife, Dona, of Florida, and Harold Ercolani, Jr. and his partner, David Leo of Tuftonboro, NH.; one sibling, Janet Crews, of Alabama; six grandchildren, Thomas and Charlie Ercolani, Meilang Ercolani, Alex and Giacomo Favazza, all of Gloucester and Katelyn Ercolani of Florida; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends, especially Jim Montagnino, Cyndi and Kevin Ilges and Janice Kerr. He was the brother of the late Eva L. (Wee Wee) Costa, Edward, Everett, and Fred Ercolani.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday June 2nd at 10:00am in Beechbrook Cemetery, 401 Essex Ave., West Gloucester. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
