Gertrude R. Chick Obituary

Gertrude R. (Komi) Chick, 84 of Gloucester, wife of the late Frank Chick passed away on Friday morning, July 22, 2022, at her residence.

She was born in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire on December 4, 1937, daughter of the late Toivo and Sylvia (Hill) Komi.

Gertrude was a graduate of Rockport High School, Class of 1955.

She worked for Sylvania, Sea Lion Inn, Action Inc. and later she became a caregiver. She was very active in her church, the Gloucester United Methodist Church.

She loved going to the Cupboard to eat and had a special bond with the owners. She enjoyed playing Pokeo with friends from Sheedy Park, going out for a ride around Cape Ann with friends, church members and also watching game shows.

Gertrude is survived by her son, Timothy Mitchell, and his wife Gleyds; 2 granddaughters, Ana Miranda, and Amanda DeOliveira; sister, Linda Spiewak; brother, Waino "Ted" Komi; nieces, nephews, and many special friends at Sheedy Park.

She was predeceased by her special cousin, Fran Leach-Pierce.

Her. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gloucester United Methodist Church, 436 Washington Street, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
