George R. Hawley Jr. Obituary
George R. Hawley Jr., 63, of Gloucester, husband of Kerin (Fennessey) Hawley passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 15, 2023.
He was born in Gloucester, MA on May 3, 1960, son of Jean E. (Burke) Hawley and the late George R. Hawley Sr.
George was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1978. He worked for over 35 years as a machinist for Hannah Engineering in Danvers.
He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and beaching with his family. The proudest day of his life was when his granddaughter was born, they shared a very special loving bond, he loved her more than life itself.
George was very well known for his quick wit and sense of humor and was always the life of the party. Everybody had a George story; all are encouraged to share their stories with the family to lift their spirits. He was always ready for a great time, and you knew when he walked in, the fun was starting.
George will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kerin Hawley; sons, Jason, Kyle and his fiance' Jessica; granddaughter, Alainna, who was his pride and joy; one and only sibling, Debra Hawley-Clough; mother-in-law, Joan Fennessey; father-in-law, Lawrence Fennessey; sisters-in-law, Kelly Fennessey, Erin Sheehan and her husband Jeff, Dawn Nicastro and her husband Sal; brothers-in-law, Guy Fennessey and his wife Kathy, Brandy and his wife Gina; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Kindly omit flowers.
His Graveside Service in Calvary Cemetery will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Following the burial in Calvary Cemetery a Celebration of Life will be held in the Gloucester Fraternity Club, Webster Street, Gloucester.
