George E. Ingersoll Obituary
George E. Ingersoll, 87, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, died on June 23rd, 2022, at Beverly Hospital surrounded by family members, nurses and under the watch of Care Dimensions Hospice. The family wants to express their gratitude to the ones that were keeping him comfortable in his last days. Special thanks to Cara (Beverly Hospital) and Sara (Care Dimensions).
He was born August 25, 1934, in Gloucester, Massachusetts the only son of the late Walter and Mary (Langley) Ingersoll. He lost his wife Donna whom he adored in March of 2020. They were married on September 7, 1958 and spent 61 years together raising their kids on Cherry Street. George left school at a young age to work Gloucester's waterfront. He made a living as a longshoreman and self-proclaimed #1 Lumper. He loved going for rides with Donna to check on the boats, going for ice cream, sitting at Niles Beach, and watching their grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events.
He is survived by his sons, George "Jay" Ingersoll and Bruce Ingersoll; his daughter, Mary Beth Ingersoll; his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Grumpy", Jessica Lynn Churchill and her husband Jon, Wayne Ingersoll and his fiancée Samantha Nichols, Natasha Dale and her husband Brett, Alyssa Ingersoll and her significant other Joshua Davies, Bryan Ingersoll and his significant other Jenn Marshall, Ashley-Marie Ingersoll and Tyler Ingersoll and his significant other Zoe Giannotti; 12 great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Maya, Kyriah, Camron, Lillian, Isaac, Bryce, Madison, Caleb, Carter, Kayden and Brielle; his daughter-in-law, Debra Hawes and his special aunt, Alice Nawfel.
Along with his wife, George was predeceased by his son, Mark Ingersoll, and his daughter-in-law, Mary-Ellen (Orlando) Ingersoll.
There will be a joint service for the both of them on a day and time to be announced.
