Frederick J. Geisel Obituary

Frederick J. Geisel, 72, of Gloucester, MA, passed away peacefully in his home on January 9th, 2022, after an 18-year battle with prostate cancer.

He was a Professional Engineer, a graduate of Tufts University undergraduate, the University of Cincinnati Masters in Environmental and Civil Engineering, and Northeastern University Masters in Business Administration. His engineering career began at Green International in the Boston area and eventually started his own company GCG Associates, in Lynnfield, MA. His last major career move was a consulting firm, Geisel Engineering, in Gloucester, MA. He was a member of the Gloucester Conservation Commission in the late 80'-90s and most recently a member of the Stage Fort Park Committee that has been instrumental in restoring the park and buildings in preparation for Gloucester's 400th anniversary. He was a passionate sports fan, holding season tickets for Celtics and Red Sox over the years. Loved outdoor activities, hiking, cycling, skiing, boogie boarding, and early Sunday mornings at Good Harbor with a bagel, coffee, and the Boston Globe. His family was his greatest love and pride. Fred will always be remembered for the stories he told, his infectious laugh and smiles, the love he shared with the people around him, and the conviction of his own opinion.

He leaves behind his wife, R Faye Geisel (Scott), their children, Molly Geisel Vigil and her husband Brian Vigil, of Denver, CO, Kevin Geisel, his wife Jessica Pascucci Geisel, and two beautiful grandchildren, Theadora Rose Geisel and Oliver Wilde Geisel, of Gloucester, sister Jeanne Geisel Meade and husband Gary Meade, Chester, CT, and several nieces and nephews, extended family, Kathy Scott Smith of Vergennes, VT, Mark Blowers Jacksonville FL, Roger Janson and Shari Button of Plymouth MA and Naples FL.

A Celebration of his remarkable life will be planned for early summer 2022.
