Frank J. Piraino Sr. Obituary

Frank J. Piraino Sr., 92, of Gloucester, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12th, 2022 at the Brentwood Rehab Center in Danvers.

Born in Gloucester, Frank was the son of the late Joseph and Stephanie (Capone) Piraino. He went back and received his GED from Gloucester High in 1979. Frank was also a lifelong member of Sacred Heart and then Our Lady of Good Voyage church. He was a member of the Elks and was known for his famous "Frank's Clam Chowder.".

He proudly served in the Army, as well as 30 years in the National Guard. For 35 years Frank worked for the National Marine Fisheries as a fish inspector. Frank was an avid beach goer, treasure hunter, and good samaritan. He was a fixture at Good Harbor beach where he could be found walking the beach with his metal detector every day. He was a history buff and had a passion for the Civil War.

Frank was very active, even into his later years, he always had a need to stay busy which was a product of his childhood. He was famous for sharing stories about growing up "down the fort" and the hardships of his early days. Those early years helped him to develop a work ethic that carried him throughout his life and made him proud of the man he had become.

Frank had many friends and was a friendly face in the community. He could be spotted every morning assembling with his "McDonald's Rangers" or at Destino's. They spent hours chatting and reminiscing about the days that had passed. This was a staple of his later years and something that he looked forward to each day. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Rosario, Tony, his sister Phyllis Morin, and his son-in-law, Bill Reid.
