Frank Cottone Obituary
Frank "Nino" Cottone, 90, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 14th, 2025. He was the devoted husband of Grace (Sanfilippo) Cottone, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Sciacca, Sicily, Nino started fishing at the young age of 10 to help support his family and continued to fish after arriving in Gloucester for the rest of his career. He owned and captained the boats "Peter & Josephine", "Cathy C", and "Sabrina Maria". During his career he was known as a highline skipper and master net builder.
Aside from fishing, Nino cherished his family and the time he spent with them, especially Sunday dinners. Nino was a lifelong member of the St Peter's Club, where he shared many years of memorable times with his friends. He also served as a member of the St Peter's Fiesta Committee. Nino was an avid gardener and shared his passion with his good friend Salvatore Ferrara.
In addition to his wife Grace, Nino is survived by his son, Al Cottone and wife Isabel; daughter, Josie Curtis and partner Jim Smith; daughter, Fran Salah and husband Scott; grandchildren, Marcus and Sabrina Cottone, Dante Curtis, Mia and Brady Salah; brother, Calogero Cottone and wife Francesa of Sciacca; niece and nephews, Frances Curreri and husband Ignazio, Alberto Cottone and wife Vivian, Frances Sabella and husband Accursio, Peter Sanfilippo, Giosi Palazzolo and husband Franco and many special cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alberto and Francesca Cottone; brother, Accursio Cottone; in-laws, Pietro and Giuseppa Sanflippo; brother and sister in-law, Giovanni and Catalina Sanfilippo; aunt and uncle, John and Catherine Cusumano.
Visiting hours will be held in St Ann's Church, 74 Pleasant Street, Gloucester on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 9 - 11 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated at 11 am. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
In lieu of flowers, do a good deed in Nino's honor.
