Francesco Rossi Obituary
Francesco Rossi, 79, of Gloucester, husband of Maria (Margiotta) Rossi, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Francesco was born in Sciacca, Sicily on June 20, 1943, and was the son of the late Sigismondo (aka Stefano) and Innocinzia (Gulino) Rossi.
Francesco was a fisherman in Sciacca and Gloucester for many years and held positions aboard many Gloucester vessels including: Diana & Mark, St. George I, St. George II, Stella del Mare, & Lily Jean.
Francesco loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and sharing his passion for cooking, and food, with his entire family. He was an avid gardener and grew most of his own fruits and vegetables used in his weekly Sunday dinners.
Francesco was passionate for the Italian soccer League and could be heard for miles around cheering on his favorite team Inter. He never missed watching a game.
He was also a long-time member of the St Peter's club of Gloucester and enjoyed spending afternoons playing cards and conversing with his many friends there.
He is survived by his wife Maria, with whom he was married to for 49 years, children, Cinsia (Rossi) Ciolino, her husband Alfonso Ciolino, their children Salvatore, Francesco, & Alessandro Ciolino; Josephine (Rossi) Giordano, her husband Eric Giordano, their children Samantha, Sydney & Sofia; Steven Rossi, his wife Jacqueline Rossi, and their children Stella and Elyse, all of Gloucester.
Francesco is predeceased by his siblings Biagia Maniscalco, Vincenzo Rossi, Giuseppa Perratore, Anna Gulino, Michela Fauci and Antonino Rossi.
Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Thursday, October 27 from 5-7 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. His mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 28, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish.
