Frances E. Doucette Obituary
Frances E. (Francis) Doucette, 78, of Gloucester, wife of the late Roger Doucette, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2022, with her family at her side. Frances was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, on March 1, 1944, the daughter of the late Manuel and Elsie (Salles) Francis.
Frances was a very giving and generous woman, and her family was very important to her. She adored her loving husband and was happily married for 54 years until his passing. She loved spending time with her girls, their husbands, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to dote on them, share her stories, and spend time visiting with them. Her sister Mary was a big part of her life, and they enjoyed sharing and trading their flea market finds. Frances' favorite past times were watching the wildlife in her backyard, going to yard sales finding that perfect item to add to her collections, and traveling to Las Vegas with her husband. She was an avid gardener with a very green thumb, and enjoyed sharing her flowers with friends and family. She would spend her evenings snuggling with her two cats Moana and Tamatoa, and watching old movies. Frances spent her life helping others. She cared for the sick as a health care worker, and became an Associate of the Sisters of Notre Dame of Ipswich while helping Sister Margaret and the other Sisters with their missionary work; which she found very gratifying.
She is survived by her three daughters, Tina Bowling and her husband David of Gloucester, Jo Ann Jordan and her husband Mark of Essex, Mary Ann Saunders and her husband Manuel of Gloucester; seven grandchildren, Joshua Bowling and his wife Tania of Massachusetts, Shayne Bowling of Maine, Christopher Jordan and his wife Kimberly of New York, Timothy Jordan and his wife Amanda of Massachusetts, Heather DeFilippo and her husband Joseph of New York, Roger Saunders, Emily Saunders and her life partner Adam Pinkham of Massachusetts; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia and Natalie Jordan of New York, Madeline Jordan of Massachusetts, Jonathan and Matthew DeFilippo of New York, Kelsie and Gavin Saunders of Massachusetts; a sister Mary Boever and her husband Dennis of Lynn; Godchildren Manuel Saunders and Tiffany Mackey; dear friends Marie and Donald Conrad, O'Dell "Meg" Young, Associates and Sisters of Notre Dame; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Roger J. Doucette Jr., brothers Edward and Joseph Francis, father and mother-in-law Lester and Laura (Brown) Doucette; brothers-in-law Lester Doucette and his wife Mary, Robert Doucette and his wife Carol, Ronald Doucette, Richard Doucette; sisters-in-law Virginia (Doucette) Gardner and her husband Harold, and Phyllis (Doucette) Goulart and her husband Raymond.
Frances' funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester, MA, on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Gloucester. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 30 Jeffrey's Neck Road, Ipswich, MA 01938 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA.
