Frances A. Parisi Obituary

Frances A. Parisi, 89, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, at home.

Born in Gloucester on January 9, 1935, she was the wife of the late Nicholas P. Parisi and the daughter of the late Russell G. Gray and Frances W. Gray.

Fran attended St. Ann's School and was a graduate of Gloucester High School with the class of 1952. She always looked forward to her lunch dates with some of her high school classmates until the time of her passing. Like many other Gloucester residents, she worked on fish during her teen years. She was a bookkeeper at Gloucester News, an office clerk at Dr. David Cohen's office, worked at the Gloucester DPW, and loved working as the accountant at Tally's for many years.

In her younger years, as the oldest of four, she played the role of big sister well, watching over her siblings and trying to keep them out of mischief. In her later years, Fran cherished spending time with her family, and she especially loved being "Gram" to her six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She loved Elvis, who was born one day before her, cats, anything and everything purple, including the fragrant lilacs in her backyard, Days of our Lives, Sclafani bread, Nichols candy, and lobster. She enjoyed attending the "Horribles" parade with her family every July 3rd, and especially loved watching the vibrant fireworks display lighting up the sky that night. You could find her listening to Neil Diamond while cooking meals to her exacting standards. Fran was an incredibly kind and considerate soul, with a twinkle in her eye and a smile that would brighten a room. She had a great sense of humor and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She enjoyed traveling, most importantly her trip to Ireland to visit family.

She is survived by her three loving and devoted sons, Nick and Mark, both of Gloucester, and Carl and his wife Erin (Carney) of Chelmsford. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Matthew, Scott and his wife Kristen (Curcuru), Lia, Jennifer Lavisi and her wife Danielle, and Nate and Seth. She was proud to share pictures and stories of her three great grandchildren Finley and Everett Parisi and Oliver Lavisi. She was loved by many nieces and nephews, including Debi (Movalli) Lopes, Michael Movalli, and Brian Movalli.

She was predeceased by her infant son, Tony Michael, brother Robert Gray of New York City, and sisters Beverly A. Movalli of Beverly and Sheila A. Gray of NH.

Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, May 23, from 4-7p.m. Service will be held on Friday, May 24, at 10a.m. at the Greely Funeral Home, followed by Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
