Evelyn Carrancho Obituary

M. Evelyn (Sonia) Carrancho, 98, of Gloucester wife of the late John S. Carrancho passed away on Thursday evening, February 9, 2023, at the Watertown Rehab and Nursing Center in Watertown, MA.

She was born in Gloucester, MA on May 10, 1924, daughter of the late John and Virginia (Plourde) Sonia.

Evelyn was a graduate of Gloucester High School. In her younger years, she worked for the Cape Ann Diner and was also a school bus monitor. Her most rewarding job was being a nurse's aide for many years at the Addison Gilbert Hospital. She loved knitting and spending time with her daughter Cindy who would take her for rides and end up at the Cupboard, her favorite place to eat. Evelyn was also a member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Bruce Carrancho and his wife Kaja; daughter, Cindy Carrancho; grandchildren, Joanna Carrancho-Russo, Jack Carrancho Jr. and his wife Kendra, Lisa Texeira, Michelle Carrancho and her husband Janda Ricci-Munn; great-grandchildren, Alexia-Dawn Carrancho, Anthony Russo, Julia Carrancho, Emma Texeira, Ryder and Vivian Ricci-Munn.

She was predeceased by her son, John "Jack" Carrancho Jr.; brothers, Raymond and Joseph Sonia and grandson-in-law, Jerry Russo.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no services at this time.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
