Evan Anthony Reardon Obituary
Evan Anthony Reardon, 36, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Friday, March 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, Marie, and his family.
Evan fought a courageous 3 ½ year battle with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. With no viable treatments to change this disease from a terminal condition to a chronic one, and no cure on the horizon, Evan lived a life without regret and accepted his fate- living what life he had left to the fullest and enjoying every moment. Despite this disease, Evan could be found with a smile on his face and a cheerful disposition. Always willing to crack a joke and make people at ease with laughter and creating fond memories. He was resilient, a warrior and a fighter right to the end. Evan, still continuing his fight against ALS, donated his brain and spinal cord for research.
Evan was born on July 15, 1988, to the late Bruce Reardon and Joyce "Joy" (Pelosi) Martin. Raised in Gloucester, he graduated from Gloucester High School in 2006. He played soccer and hockey in his youth and at GHS. While in high school, he traveled to Europe to play hockey with the Boston Golden Eagles Club and talked often of this experience of a lifetime. As an adult, Evan played many years of wiffleball in the Golden Stick Wiffleball League, having won tournaments and being chosen for the All-Star team multiple times.
Evan followed in his father's footsteps with his love for fantasy football. Any one of Evan's friends could attest that "Reardon ran the BEST fantasy league". His love for football statistics brought Evan to become a sportswriter for the fantasy football blog Fantasy Sharks. He wrote many articles with the immense knowledge he had for the game. His brother, Sean, (also an avid lover of the game) created an even tighter brotherly bond playing in several fantasy football leagues and enjoyed watching Sunday football together.
Evan enjoyed his life on the island and appreciated the simple things. He had many long-time friends, too many to name, and many of them came to visit Evan and reminisced about growing up together. They shared many laughs and memories.
Prior to being diagnosed with ALS, Evan worked for Good Harbor Fillet Co., Nor'east Cleaners, National Fish and Seafood, Cape Seafoods, Custom Seasonings and then, Cometeer Coffee as a Production Supervisor. After diagnosis, Evan worked from home as a Planning Coordinator for Cometeer. Evan truly loved working at Cometeer and being involved in the coffee business. The Cometeer team showed true compassion toward Evan throughout his illness and his family will always be grateful.
Evan married the love of his life, Marie (Ciluffo), on April 26, 2019, at St. Joachim's Church in Rockport. He and Marie created many wonderful memories. They loved spending quality time together and enjoyed binge watching their favorite shows. They honeymooned in Rome, Italy and loved going to North Conway, NH for weekend getaways. After diagnosis, they were lucky enough to travel to Punta Cana, DR twice. Their love was endless and unconditional. During life's difficult times, they leaned on each other for comfort and support. Marie was Evan's rock and guiding light. They sacrificed for one another because of their love for each other. She finds comfort that he is at peace but will forever miss him.
