Ethel M. Rivers Obituary
Ethel M. Rivers, 89, of Gloucester, wife of the late Alfred Rivers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the Bear Hill Nursing Home in Stoneham, MA.
Ethel was born in Gloucester on August 17, 1933, and was raised by the late James E. and Cora M. (Sweet) Chadwick.
Ethel was an avid cook and baker and loved to dance.
She is survived by the niece she raised Ethel (Chadwick) Haddix and her husband Robert Haddix of Rockport.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and 6 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: the Commission for the Blind (MBC) in Boston, MA, or a charity of one's choice.
There are no visiting hours. Her mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Gloucester MA. Family and friends are cordially invited. Burial will follow in Beechbrook Cemetery in West Gloucester. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester.
