Donna J. LeClair Obituary
Donna J. LeClair passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester after suffering a short illness. She spent her last days surrounded by family and friends, showing them one final time just how strong a woman she truly was. She died the way she lived, with dignity, grace, and love. Donna's passing leaves holes in countless hearts, but her legacy will bring smiles for many years.
Donna was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. She had an adventurous childhood and graduated from Gloucester High School. She considered following a profession in nursing, but at the tender age of 19 she met the love of her life, Arthur. They married within months of meeting, and they lived a happy life with their beautiful daughter, Pattianne.
A charismatic person, Donna made friends easily. She thrived on being with people, sharing stories, laughing, and bringing joy wherever she went. While marriage and motherhood kept her from pursuing a nursing degree, she still found ways to interact with the public. She was employed by the retail sector for most of her life, working for King's Department Store as well as several pharmacies, including Osco Pharmacy, Brooks Pharmacy, and Rite Aid. Clearly, Donna never lost the desire to help people, especially those who needed medical attention.
Donna never let the occasion to have fun pass her by. She treasured her family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. She had an incredible sense of humor, a sharp wit, and an infectious laugh. Despite losing her best friend and beloved husband, Arthur, way too soon, she soldiered on and found meaning in her days. Time in her pool, special meals out with Pattianne, and long, heart-to-heart talks with girlfriends were simple pleasures that she enjoyed. She loved listening to vintage music, especially the 1959 classic "Sea of Love" made popular by Phil Phillips. Donna was a compassionate person who seized every chance to touch a heart, bring joy, and make the world a better place.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Pattianne LeClair, who blessed both of her parents with infinite love and attention. She also leaves behind a cherished companion, Louis Voller, Jr., as well as a brother, Joseph DeWolfe and a sister-in-law, Trina. Also mourning Donna's passing are several nieces and nephews, including Pamela Curtis, a niece who was extra kind to her aunt.
Her loving husband, Arthur L. LeClair, was waiting in Heaven to welcome Donna home. Surely, they danced at their reunion! Parents Dominic and Helen (Slater) DeWolfe, brother Dominic DeWolfe, and sister Mary (DeWolfe) Mitchell were also in the welcoming party.
At Donna's request, there are no calling hours or services. If you're of a mind to do so, she would appreciate any act of kindness toward another person. Plant a flower, be kind to a stranger, help a neighbor out. Do for others in her memory. That's what she hoped would happen at her passing.
I pray to God that people should care, love, and support each other. I'm thankful for mine in so many ways.—Donna LeClair.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to, Cape Ann Food Pantry, 28 Emerson Ave., Gloucester, or Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester.
Final care is being given by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester.
