Dennis W. Bryant Obituary

Dennis Wayne Bryant, 63, of Gloucester, MA, passed away on Saturday, May 11, after a long battle with cancer on his houseboat in Gloucester, MA, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 26, 1960, in San Diego, California, he was the son of Virginia Childs and James Bryant. He was the devoted father of Tyler Bryant and Alysia Bryant (mother Wendy English), and Séamus Michael Watson (mother Keara Maureen Watson), whom he loved more than anything. He also cherished his stepchildren, Krystal St. Jacques and Kyle English (mother Wendy English), as his own.

Dennis was a jack of all trades, having many successful careers throughout his life, such as masonry, in which he was known for his incredible mosaic talent, landscaping, Christmas tree sales, fishing, and many smaller side projects. Most recently, he was involved in antiquing and estate sales.

Dennis had an infectious personality, making him able to make friends with anyone. He was always the first to lend a hand when needed and wanted nothing more than to make those around him happy. Anyone who knows Dennis knows he went through the unthinkable but was always able to land on his feet. Always the life of the party, able to light up any room, and had the ability to bring so many people together from all different walks of life.

Dennis was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. His presence at meetings was always both entertaining and profound. He inspired many by demonstrating that life could be far more meaningful without alcohol. Likewise, he received much support from others, and his absence will be deeply felt in the AA community. He would have celebrated his third year of sobriety at the end of May, a milestone we were all so proud of him for reaching. His legacy in AA will endure.

He is survived by his significant other, Susie Penney, with whom he shared a love for antiquing with, but more importantly, the drive to live an amazing, loving, fulfilling life. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia Childs, and her spouse Harry Childs; his siblings, Linda Coffey and her husband Lonnie, Krissy Jenderny and her husband Paul, Tracy Patchen and her husband George, and brother, John Clark. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Moland. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved greatly.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services, but a celebration of life will be held, time and date TBD.
