David J. Knowlton Obituary
David J. Knowlton, 75, of Gloucester, MA husband of Patricia A. (Bouchie) Knowlton passed away on Thursday morning, August 18, 2022, at the Beverly Hospital.
He was born in Gloucester, MA on November 20, 1946, son of the late Joseph W. Knowlton Jr. and Lorraine A. (Kearsey) Knowlton.
David was a graduate of the Gloucester High School, Class of 1966 and later attended Newman Preparatory School in Boston, MA where he studied business. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. David also was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
David worked for 21 years at Fishery Products International, LLC as the Manager of Cold Storage.
He was a big fan of baseball. He was a Gloucester Little League coach and was instrumental in introducing Gloucester teams to the Bay State traveling baseball league, and also coached in that league.
His grandchildren were the center of his life, and he loved their annual trips to Disney World together. He would often comment, his greatest joy was to see the smiles on their faces as they entered the gate to Magic Kingdom. David had a witty sense of humor, was a master of sarcasm, he was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia A. Knowlton of Gloucester; daughter, Jill Knowlton MacLeod, and her husband Christopher of Essex, MA; grandchildren, Adam Christopher MacLeod and Mia Lee MacLeod; sister, Donna Knowlton Pfosi of Rockport, MA; brother, Dana Knowlton, and his wife Elizabeth of Eleuthera, Bahamas; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, including a dear friend and his kidney donor, Debra Prudhomme.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his beloved son, Jared Christopher Knowlton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Sylvia (Bouchie) Fears and Paul Fears; Albert Philip Bouchie; Joseph (Eddie) Bouchie; Nina (Bouchie) Sears and David Sears, Sr.; and Paul Pfosi.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Friday, August 26, at 10:00 a.m. All attendees are required to wear face coverings during Mass.
