Dana Edward Josephson, 66, of Gloucester passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
Dana was born on in Gloucester, on June 24, 1956 to the late Edward Josephson and Beverly (Greel) Josephson who still resides in Gloucester.
Dana graduated from Gloucester High School in 1975. While at GHS he studied machine shop. On nice days his classmates could see him coming down the river in his boat to get to school. After high school Dana went on to work at the Cape Ann Tool Company with his father and brother. He was employed by several machine shops on Cape Ann. He even had one job over the bridge for a few years. For all the knew him knew that was a huge commute for him. Dana was most recently employed by Benco Precision Machining, and was getting ready to retire "before Scotty Cook".
Dana had a love affair with wooden boats and anything to do with the ocean. In his younger years you could find him in his dory or rowing with his crew team. Dana participated in several International Dory races and Seine boat races during Fiesta.
Dana loved summer. Most Saturdays you could find him sitting on his mooring on his beloved wooden Beals Island Lobster Yacht 'Fluke' sipping a cocktail in his boxer shorts, flounder fishing, or swimming around Lobster Cove. He also loved lobstering, digging clams, skiing, and porch sitting with his family and Vodka. He also loved Squiddy, his cat companion. His pride and passion was his 'Sow-Na'. He was always putting out the call to all welcome, "Sauna is lit if you want to come over for a heat" But the true joy in his life was his kids and grand kids.
If anyone needed Dana on a Friday night you could find him on one of his favorite barstools at the Azorean or Lobsta Land enjoying an adult beverage pinkies up.
