Bonita A. Sawyer Obituary
Bonita A. "Bonnie" Sawyer, 77, of Gloucester, wife of Walter P. "Sooky" Sawyer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Oceanside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born in Gloucester, MA on May 22, 1947, daughter of the late John and Henrietta (Rose) Costa.
Bonnie was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1965. Later she attended Lynn School of Business receiving her certificate in taxation/corporation and state taxes.
When they were younger, she and her husband Sooky loved going dancing with friends every Saturday night at the VFW in Ipswich. Bonnie enjoyed going to Disney, Niagara Falls, trips to Storyland with the grandkids, and loved going on her day trips to the casinos. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, trips to Essex for seafood dinners, time spent on the boulevard, and her very special Wednesdays with her granddaughter Aryana.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Walter P. "Sooky" Sawyer; daughter, Janelle Moreno and her husband Jose; son, Walter P. Sawyer Jr. and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Aryana Moreno, Jonathan Sawyer, Matthew Sawyer and Christopher Sawyer; aunt, Rose Sawyer; cousins Shiela Neves and Gerry Gaipo , friend Jack Frost, and furry grand baby Higgins. (whom she adored), She was predeceased by her very dear friend since childhood, Roberta Frost.
In keeping with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
