Barbara Tinker Obituary
Barbara (White) Tinker, 91, passed away peacefully at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House on October 31, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Born in Gloucester on April 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Abraham H. White and Olive (Bent) White. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard Tinker to whom she was married to for 64 years and lovingly cared for until he passed away in 2021. Barbara grew up in Gloucester where she lived her entire life in the same house, she was born in. Barbara attended Saint Ann's Grammar School and graduated from St. Ann's High School.
Her first job was at GMI Laundry on Burnham Street which was right next door to her house. She worked in the office at Birdseye Seafood and at the Atlantis Oceanview Inn & Spruce Manor Hotel (now the Castle Manor Inn.). She worked until her retirement for the City of Gloucester as the lead clerk in the Tax Collector's office.
She enjoyed cooking for friends and family and would serve her famous spaghetti and meatball dish on the eves of Christmas, Easter, and Fourth of July and Thanksgiving!Barbara enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and Foxwoods Casino with her husband Richard and extended visits to Palm Beach Florida with friends.
Her most important role in life was as Nana to her twin grandchildren, Amanda, and Patrick. They are so very grateful for the love and support their nana always gave them.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Faye (Tinker) Greel, and her husband, Robert Greel of Rockport; twin grandchildren, Amanda, and Patrick Greel of Rockport; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert White, and a sister, Marjorie (White) Capillo.

Services and burial will be held privately.
