Anthony C. LoBello Obituary
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Joyce Bauer; her husband, James and his brother, Edward R. LoBello.
After graduating from the DeWitt Clinton High School in 1944 he attended Fordham College and in 1945 withdrew and entered the service. Tony was a W.W.II. Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Fordham College in 1949 with a B.S. He subsequently received an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Tony began his career in the Frozen Food Industry with Snow Crop/Minute Maid. In 1956 he joined Gorton's of Gloucester where he enjoyed a long, successful career in the Seafood Industry, traveling all +over the world procuring fish and building relationships. He had the distinction of serving as the President of the National Fisheries Institute, was involved in the development of McDonalds Fish Sandwich and served on the Board of various Banks. When he left his position as Vice Chairman of the Gorton Group in 1987, he retired from General Mills and joined the E.J. Sweeney Group Co. that became The LoBello –Sweeney Group Ltd.
He was a member of the Bass Rocks Golf Club for over 50 years and was known as "the Driving Range Commando", always tweaking his game. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on his Birthday, June 13th. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery in Florida.
