Andrea R. Harling Obituary
We celebrate the life of Andrea Harling, age 82, who passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2023. She is survived by her husband, David Harling, and her two younger brothers, Robert Ranta and Stephen Ranta. She is succeeded by her devoted son, Daniel Harling and his wife, Rebecca; and by her two granddaughters, Danielle Harling and Annabelle Harling, to whom she was a second mother.
Born on August 13th, 1941, in Lanesville, she was the eldest daughter of Edward and Viola Ranta. She attended Gloucester Schools until her graduation in 1959, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1963 from Salem State College.
In 1964 Andrea married David Harling and they welcomed their son Daniel a few years later. She and David enjoyed a 59-year marriage filled with love, commitment, and laughter, and she found no greater joy than in raising her family and watching it grow.
Andrea was diligent in her work; she was an elementary school teacher after her college graduation, and from 1988 until her retirement she worked as a secretary in the healthcare field.
She was a devoted member of her beloved Lanesville Congregational Church, serving many roles and keeping up with services until her passing. She emulated the patience, kindness, and wisdom of Christ in everything she did.
We will remember her when we visit Millbrook Park and Back Beach, when we watch her favorite musicals, when we hear the spring peepers and work in the garden, when we sing hymns in Church, and most of all when we gather together as a family, which is when she was happiest.
In keeping with her wishes, Andrea's funeral will be private. There will be a public memorial service at Lanesville Congregational Church during the upcoming weeks.
