He is survived by: his wife Cynthia (Diettrich); his children, Tiffany Vail Miller (Robert) of Franklin, MA and Gregory Robert Vail (Lori) of Scottsdale, AZ; and his grandson Noah Miller of Franklin.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Music Fund at First Church in Marlborough, or to Bay Path Humane Society, 500 Legacy Farms North, Hopkinton MA 01748.
