He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Patrick McCaffrey and Mary Edith McCaffrey (MacPhee); his spouse Helen (Gavin); his daughters, Judith Miles (Ronald Tribuna) of Dennis Port, Janice Mandile (John) of Watertown, Joan Ryan (Gerald) of Quincy and Karen Hanley (Leo) of Framingham; his stepchildren, Michelle Miller and Steven Allain; his friend Glennice Smiley; and his siblings, Marion Fenderson, Owen McCaffrey and Jean Godfrey. He was also cherished by his 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.

Interment in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:15 P.M. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Davids name to: The Watertown Firefighters Relief Assoc., 99 Main St., Watertown, MA 02472, or to: Honor Flight New England, P.O. Box 16287, Hooksett, NH 03106.
