He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Smith and Mary E. Smith (Scott); his wife Dorothy Mae Smith (Courtney); and his daughter Barbara Helie. He is survived by: his children, Michael J. Smith of Baldwinvile, Stephen C. Smith of Athol, Daniel T. Smith Ashby, Dennis Smith and Kathleen M. Couture of Fitchburg; and his brothers, Robert Smith of Shrewsbury and William Smith. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
