He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Hughes and Elizabeth Hughes; his wife Susan Lane Hughes (Mooney); his children, Edward Francis Hughes IV of New York, NY, John Patrick Hughes of Arlington, VA and Dempsey Lane Hughes, MD of Evanston, IL; his daughter-in-law Kristen Welker of Arlington, VA; his granddaughter Margot Lane Welker Hughes of Arlington, VA.; his siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" Craig of North Falmouth, MA and Paul J. L. Hughes of Sparta, NJ; and his sister-in-law Martha M. Mooney of Belmont, MA. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ed's name to Boston Latin School, Amherst College.
