He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Desmarais (Turner); his parents, Edmond Desmarais and Pauline Daugherty (Alexander); his siblings, Sharon Daugherty, Olan Daugherty and Brian Desmarais; and his grandmother Florence Alexander.
He is survived by: his children, Barbara Vieira (late Altino "Louie" Vieira), Messias Arruda of Swansea and Brenda Desmarais of Fall River; his grandchildren, Vanessa Vieira, Austin Vieira, Elizabeth Desmarais, Evrin Desmarais and Ebony Desmarais; his siblings, William "Bill" Desmarais, Mark Desmarais, Gary Desmarais, Alvin Daugherty, Linda Cabral, Joyce Desmarais of Fall River and Tina Daugherty of Indiana; and his aunt Jean Bisson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
