He was predeceased by: his spouse Mary (Tobin); and his sibling Richard Heyward. He is survived by: his children, Kim Buonopane (Nick Marazzi) and Dawn McCarthy (Jameson); his siblings, Robert "Tiny" Heyward, Barbara Loder, Terry Loder and Winnie Koureyen; and his grandchildren, Michael, Marina, Monica and Maggie.

In lieu of flowers donations in Philip's memory may be made to Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans of Massachusetts.
