She was predeceased by: her husband Bernard Ahern (Bernie); and her parents, Mary Medugno (Racca) and James Medugno. She is survived by: her children, Judy Alatalo and Tracy Ahern (Dereck Bonney); her grandchildren, Erik, Rachel and Sam Alatalo; and her siblings, James (Janet Medugno), Joseph (Margie Medugno) and Anne (Joseph Pierce).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of one's choice as Barbara had too many to choose from, she truly loved giving back to charities whenever she could.
