Linda J. Guarrasi Obituary
Linda J. (Padre) Guarrasi, 68, of Essex, MA, wife of Richard A. Guarrasi passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice.
She was born in Gloucester, MA on October 27, 1953, daughter of the late Alcides and Julia (Azevedo) Padre.
She attended Gloucester Public Schools, and was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1971. The high school was where she met the love of her life, Rick Guarrasi. After graduation, they married and made their home in Essex. She was the quintessential wife, mother, and grandmother – putting those she loved before herself.
She worked at W.G. Brown's and Addison Gilbert Hospital as a billing clerk before birthing her daughter, Amanda. She stopped working and loved being a stay-at-home mom, volunteering in her daughter's classes and baking cookies for her daughter's cheering teams. She returned to work as a billing clerk for Lynne T. Drizen Orthodontics until retirement.
Her love of sewing began around age 14, when her parents gave her a sewing machine for Christmas. She was a meticulous seamstress and made many of her own clothes and more recently, her granddaughters' doll clothes. She also crocheted and crafted as well. She loved the autumn and snow, but summers were spent enjoying the beaches, first with her daughter, and then with her granddaughters. She was the happiest being their "Nana". She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her husband, Richard Guarrasi of Essex; daughter, Amanda Ferrari and her husband Robert Ferrari, Jr., two granddaughters, Brielle, and Ava; sisters, Alicia Padre, Jane Cusick and her husband David, and Judith McKinnon, all of Gloucester. She is also survived by in-laws, Antonio & Diane Guarrasi and Joanne & Bo Rivas, both of Florida, David & Christine Guarrasi of Gloucester, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alcides and Julia Padre and her in-laws, Vincent & Rose Guarrasi.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Gloucester on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Relative and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. All attendees are required to wear face coverings during the Mass.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Tuesday, March 15, from 4:00 to7:00 p.m. The family respectfully requests that attendees test or wear a mask.
