Anthony N. Masciarelli Obituary
Anthony Masciarelli passed away at his home on September 6th. His passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by family and friends. He bravely faced his second bout with cancer over the last 6 months. It was grueling to say the least, but his focus and determination was inspiring, he was a hero to all who knew him. His first diagnosis was in 2005, his children were small and although the outcome this time around wasn't what we'd hoped, he considers the last 18 years a gift from God, he got to see his children grow up, along with the birth of his first grandchild.
It was important to Anthony to spend his last days at home surrounded by those who love him. He lived more in those few weeks than some do in a lifetime. He laid his head down every night saying "today was a good day, thank you for doing this for me".
Anthony had an intense love of music from a young age and continued to play in a a band until he could play no longer. Music was playing in his ear until the very end. His best friend and band mate since high school, Michael Pieroni was by his side until he played his final note. His other love, was camping. He spent his last months here traveling and living out of his RV, bouncing between Normandy Farms and Boston Cape Cod KOA. His granddaughter Aria, would come spend days with him and Anthony loved taking her to swing on the swings, and watching her swimming in the pool, or riding on the scooter with her Nonna.
Anthony and his wife that he lovingly referred to as his soul mate or his one true love, started a salon together over 30 years ago, the years prior he owned and operated his own cleaning company which afforded him the opportunity for greater things, which included opening the salon. Anthony was never afraid to work hard. After the salon began to run by itself with the help of an amazing staff, he focused his attentions on developing multiple industry related products, some still in use today. Anthony was an innovator, a true visionary whose mind worked in mysterious ways. His brilliance was recognized with the development of Salontarget software. The software helps thousands of salons to succeed everyday. Anthony realized that his other true love was working with the salon owners and the stylists directly to help them succeed. He always put the needs of others before his own. He loved the expression, ". If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".
He was the third of 4 children but the first to be born in this country to proud Italian immigrant parents, Nicola and Annamaria. He is predeceased by his father Nicola Masciarelli, his Father in law Joseph, and sister in laws Wendy and Debbie. He is survived by his mother Annamaria, also survived by his wife of almost 30 years Annemarie, his son Adriano, and his children Lili and Remi, his sons Stefano, and Sandro, and his precious daughter Sofia, and the newest love of his life, her daughter Aria. Anthony is also survived by his brother Arthur Masciarelli, and his wife Carol, and their daughters Gina and Andrea, his brother Louie Masciarelli, and Sister-in Law Susan Masciarelli, and their daughter Alanna, and son Nicholas, his wife Danielle, and their 2 sons Greyson and Landon. His ever-loving sister Roberta (who willingly and without hesitation, moved in and helped to care for her brother until he took his very last breath) her loving husband Joe Spagnuolo and their daughter Romina.
To Anthony, family wasn't just blood, it was everything and everyone that was important to him from, his Mother in law Maureen Doyle, who was also his prayer partner and helped him to trust in God, comforting him with her daily bedtime prayers, to his Brother in law Donnie Sinclair and wife Tanya and their children Nicholas, Nathan, and Taila-Jade, His Brother in law Scott Sinclair , nhis wife Dannilynn and their two children Robert and Devin. His La Novita' salon family Sade, Marie, Sarah, Justine, Gabbie, Lisa, Michelle, India, Linda, Seana, Hazyl, Makenna, Meagan, Elizabeth, and Caroline. His Salontarget family, David, Halldor, John, Steve, Kristin, Terry, Erika, Steve and Bonnie. Yes, family was everything to Anthony. To some it may seem extreme to pay homage to so many, but to him it meant he was loved beyond measure, and that there was always someone to bear witness to his amazing life. He will be missed more than words can say.
