He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Laura M. Smith (Hanson); his parents, Chester Smith Sr. and Margaret Smith Al (Riordan); his friends, Pete, Bill and Dennis; his sons, Mark D Smith (Leanne) of Brockton and Dale L. Smith (Kimberly) of Lakeville; his brother Albert D Smith of Maine; his grandchildren, Jessica, Colleen, Hannah and Maxwell; and his cousin Jennie Demling (John). He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Due to Federal & State Emergency concerning to Covid-19, a private funeral and interment was held at South Easton Cemetery, Easton.
