She is survived by: her parents, Gerrit Vandenberg and Nelly Vandenberg (DeRuiter); her spouse Kenneth Madden; her children, Stacey Madden (Kate Thurston) and Drew Madden (Abby Madden); her grandchildren, Ava, Jackson, Greyson, Kenny and Elizabeth; and her brother Hank Vandenberg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay's name to the Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and the Easthampton Community Center.
