He is survived by: his fiancée Connie Tanguay; his daughter Stephanie Vanning (Chad); his grandchildren, Grace and Nathan Vanning; and his siblings, George Hums, Timothy Hums (Penny) and Jeanette Durchin (Martin). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
