She was predeceased by: her parents, Anslem Nystrom and Beatrice Nystrom (Lavalley); her husband Richard Paul "Rit" Whitney; her grandson Danny Chechile; her sister Norma Festa; her husband Vinnie; and her brothers, John Nystrom (Carol) and Victor Nystrom (Fannie).
She is survived by: her children, Brenda Smith (Larry) of Baldwinville, MA, Karen A. Whitney (Ric Connery) of Springfield, Richard R. Whitney (Maryanne) of Springfield and Diane S. Talbot (Donald) of Keene, NH; her brother Richard Nystrom (Nancy) of Ludlow; and her grandchildren, Shawn, Nicholas, Marie, Elise, Stephanie, Phillip, Sam Whitney (Brittany) and Sarah Whitney (Joe). She is also survived by six great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's name may be directed to the Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105. Contributions in her name may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
