He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold R. Chesson and Doris Chesson (Crooks); and his sister Janet Hale (Chesson). He is survived by: his wife Laurel Chesson (Gadaire); his children, Lisa Baker (Thomas) of West Brookfield and Harold R. Chesson III; his grandchildren, Thomas C. Baker (Joanna), Dr. Stephen C. Baker, Hillary Fazio (Michael), Hayley J. Chesson (Patrick), Samuel S. Quink, Andrew M. Quink, Matthew J. Chesson, Jr. and Gabriela M. Chesson; and his great grandchild McKenna R. Fazio.
